Is RackMon free?
Yes. The Community edition is free forever — unlimited devices and metrics, rack heatmaps, live telemetry, alerting, discovery and SNMP v2c/v3. A paid per-instance Pro license adds the client-facing features.
What’s the difference between Community and Pro?
Community is the full self-hosted monitor, free forever, including for commercial use inside your own organisation. Pro adds SSO (OIDC) & LDAP/Active Directory, the public status page, SLA/availability PDF reports and white-label branding. Pro is licensed per running instance at €390/instance/year.
Does RackMon phone home or send my data anywhere?
No. It’s fully self-hosted — no account, no telemetry, no call-home. Your data stays on your server, and the Pro license is verified offline, so even license checks never contact us.
Which SNMP versions does it support?
SNMP v2c and v3 (including authenticated, encrypted authPriv), plus discovery to find SNMP hosts on a subnet.
How is the Pro license verified?
Each Pro key is an Ed25519-signed token your instance verifies offline with an embedded public key — no license server, no call-home. One key activates one instance.
Can I use the free edition commercially?
Yes, free of charge, including commercial use inside your own organisation. You just can’t resell RackMon itself or offer it as a hosted service to third parties without a commercial agreement.
What do I need to run it?
Anything that runs a container. One image serves the API and web UI on port 8000; SQLite to start, PostgreSQL/TimescaleDB as you grow. Most people are running in about ten minutes.
Does it replace Zabbix or a full monitoring stack?
No — and it doesn’t try to. RackMon focuses on rack thermal + environmental monitoring with a finished, thermal-first UI. See the comparison with Zabbix, PRTG and LibreNMS for where each fits.
